Returns & Replacements.
Every planter is handmade and every plant is alive, so returns work a little differently than a big-box shop. Here's the deal, laid out plain.
Caldwell / Boise pickup & Facebook Marketplace meetups.
At the meetup. Inspect your planter before you leave. If anything's not right — chipped, wrong piece, plant looks off — hand it back, no charge, no questions.
Within 14 days of pickup. If the planter arrives home broken or the succulent dies (assuming normal care), send a photo to plants@edgyroot.adamvaline.com and we'll replace the plant or the planter — your call — free of charge. You cover pickup for the replacement.
After 14 days. All sales are final. Handmade one-offs are hard to re-list, and plant health after two weeks depends more on care than on us.
Change your mind? If it's within 48 hours of pickup and the piece is still in the condition you got it, we'll take it back for full refund. Beyond 48 hours, we'll swap it for another piece of equal or lesser value in the shop, but not refund it.
Anything mailed out.
Damaged in transit. If the planter arrives cracked, broken, or badly chipped, email a photo within 48 hours of delivery. We'll ship a replacement at no cost — no need to return the broken one.
Succulent arrived dead or badly stressed. Same window — photo within 48 hours. We'll ship a replacement plant (not a whole new planter) free of charge. Shipping is hard on live plants, and we'd rather send a fresh one than argue about it.
Change of mind, undamaged. 14-day return window from delivery. The planter can come back — you cover return shipping, and it must arrive in original condition. The live plant can't be returned safely by mail, so it stays with you either way; refund is for the planter portion only.
After 14 days. All sales are final for shipped orders too.
Because handmade is not fast fashion.
Every planter is a one-of-one, hand-shaped and hand-painted. A returned planter isn't easy to re-list at the same margin, and return shipping on a $15 piece often costs nearly what the piece is worth.
Live plants are the other reason: succulents don't survive round-trips in a box very well. A 30-day return window that includes the plant would mean shipping dying plants back and forth. That's not good for anyone.
Our policy leans hard on replacement over refund: if something we sent you is damaged or the plant didn't make it, we'd rather send you a fresh one than take the piece back. That covers the cases people actually care about, without the wasteful part.
The honest fine print.
- 🌵 Succulents that die from over-watering, under-lighting, cold windowsills, or curious pets — care questions? we'll help, but replacement is at our discretion after the 14-day window.
- 💧 Water damage to painted finish from soaking or immersion.
- 🪨 Drop damage or intentional modification (paint, drilling, etc.).
- 📦 Delays or damage caused by the shipping carrier past the 48-hour photo window.
- 🎁 Custom commissions — those are covered by the terms in your commission email, not this page.
Something's wrong? Just email.
Email plants@edgyroot.adamvaline.com with:
- 📸 A photo of the issue (broken planter, stressed plant, wrong piece — whatever it is)
- 🗓️ When you received it (delivery date or pickup date)
- 💬 A quick note about what happened
We'll reply within a couple of days and sort it out from there — replacement, refund, or a swap. No script, no runaround.
